WASAC Cares and Summer Programming
Winnipeg Aboriginal Sport Achievement Centre (WASAC) is a registered charitable not-for-profit organization that helps develop leadership and mentorship skills for Indigenous youth through sport, recreation, and cultural programs. WASAC is deeply connected to children and youth through schools in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba. Children, youth, and families are looking for activities to participate in and now more than ever there is a need to keep providing them with a positive structure to belong to.
As part of the WASAC Cares initiative, packages which include food, protective supplies, games and activities are being delivered to homes based on a needs assessment schools are doing for their most vulnerable families. This will help fill the gap by keeping the students in those families connected to their elementary, junior and high schools.
At this time, WASAC is continuing to plan for their summer kids camp and leadership programs. Following the restrictions of the current health guidelines, the organization continues to deliver summer enrichment programs for children and employment opportunities for youth.
